A 3D clutch that multi-tasks!

Clutch-in-Time is a 3 dimensional automatic clutch to laterally position the sprocket relative to a brake pad.  Operating like a disc brake, full time chain control is assured.  Full time control in an integrated, plug in package.

US Patent 7,640,669 details this centrifugal clutch that does not require a throttle connection for full time chain control.  Patent description is found at http://patft.uspto.gov/

Clutch-in-Time uses wedge displacement to position the sprocket face.  At idle, the sprocket is forced to the brake pad as the wedges retract.  Under power, the sprocket is forced to a crankshaft drive plate as the wedges extend. Not shown: a garter spring to force wedge retraction at idle; a hub to wedge connection to fix lateral wedge position.

The cutter bar brake pad stops chain motion upon sprocket contact.  For kickback, the brake pad can be thrust into the sprocket by a hand guard lever which eliminates a band brake.
